The Challenge:

The customer required several old and unwanted household appliances to be removed from a residential property on Haydon Drive in Wallsend.

The items included a large fridge-freezer, washing machine, tumble dryer, cooker, dishwasher and several smaller electrical appliances that were no longer required.

The main challenge was safely moving the heavier appliances through the kitchen, hallway and property entrance without damaging walls, flooring or door frames.

Several appliances were bulky and difficult to manoeuvre, while the customer also wanted the removal completed promptly so replacement appliances could be delivered and installed.

Our Solution:

Before beginning the removal, our team confirmed exactly which appliances were to be taken away and checked the safest route through the property.

The larger appliances were carefully disconnected where appropriate and prepared for removal. Our two-person team used safe lifting and handling techniques to move the fridge-freezer, washing machine, tumble dryer, cooker and dishwasher through the property. Particular care was taken around kitchen units, flooring, narrow doorways and entrance areas. Electrical appliances were kept separate from general household waste so they could be directed towards suitable recycling and responsible processing. Once all agreed appliances had been removed, the team checked the kitchen and access routes to ensure no unwanted items had been left behind.

The Result

The appliance removal was completed in approximately two to three hours by two clearance operatives.

Around half a van load of unwanted electrical appliances was removed from the Wallsend property.

Approximately 310 kg of appliances and electrical materials was directed towards appropriate recycling and responsible disposal.

The kitchen, utility areas and access routes were left clear and ready for the delivery and installation of replacement appliances.

The customer avoided having to arrange separate collections for each appliance and had the unwanted items removed during a single scheduled visit.
